Film Event: The London Film Museum Presents Bond in Motion

Hello, hello! How's everyone's week been? This weekend, I treated my dad to day out at The London Film Museum's latest attraction and I thought I'd share it all with my fellow film fans.

Now, you all know that film was my first love and so it won't be any surprise to you all that the London Film Museum at London's South Bank was pretty much very favourite place in London. Which is why I was devastated when it was taken down and re-homed to Convent Garden. However, I thought I'd pay it a visit to check out it's only current exhibition - Bond in Motion.

Bond in Motion is the world's largest collection of vehicles and props as seen in the movies and whilst I myself am not a devoted Bond fan, I have of course seen all of the films and can fully appreciate the success of the franchise. Being due another family day out and given that my dad has always been a Bond fan, I figured I'd treat him to a ticket to see it.

I really loved all the props, models and storyboards which are featured all over the two floors. The level of detail put in to each accessory and vehicle is super impressive whether you're a Bond fan of not. It features Bond's accessories, suits and of course, some of the most impressive cars you're likely to come across (both pre and post-stunts). Furthermore, Bond in Motion showcases the evolution of Bond through the years - an impressive look at the advancements in technology and filmmaking.

This exhibit is certainly not an all day event and I think in total we were only really there for about 30-45mins which is a short time for the ticket price. Nether-the-less, if you're a true film and Bond fan it's definitely worth seeing whilst it's still there.

Of course, we finished up our trip with some lunch at one of my new favourite restaurants, Sophie's! Though we share a name, that's not the only reason why I loved it. Both the food and service was excellent and I loved the whole style of the place. After my dad cracked a rather unfunny joke about getting discount for having the same name, we were given a free bottle of their special Sophie Steak Sauce which is pretty awesome.

Afterwards me and Jack headed off round some shops, stopping in to check out this amazing new cinema opened near Shaftesbury Avenue. It's the newest Picture House cinema and it's so pretty I had to have a look. I can't wait to spend an evening here sometime soon! And, of course, there was the obligatory stop off at Whole Foods...

Whilst I miss the old London Film Museum, Bond in Motion is definitely a visit for all you film fans. The exhibit has already been running for a while and with the latest Bond release, Spectre (Sam Mendes, 2015), due in November, the exhibition has been extended until the end of the year. This does mean, however, that I have to keep waiting to see the museum's next feature which I hope will be less specific and more about the history and passion behind film-making. Worth a visit and  failing that, a great treat for your dad! Remember to get your 2-4-1 vouchers before you go as it'll save you a bundle!

Have you visited the London Film Museum's latest exhibit? What did you get up to this week? As always I love reading your thoughts and comments below so please do leave those below! I'm already too excited about next weekend when I'll be going to Star Wars Secret Cinema!! Hope everyone's enjoying what's left of the weekend *where did it go?!*

Until next time film fans,

  1. I've seen all the Bond films so that exhibit looks interesting. I always like the part where Q shows Bond his latest gadgets. The marquee for Picture House cinema and the titles it displays are interesting as well. I really enjoyed Slow West so thanks for making me aware of that, Sophie :) Touch of Evil (1958) is worth watching too, because of the Grand Guignol elements that Orson Welles put in it. One movie I'm looking forward to when it's released later this year is Legend. I want to see Tom Hardy's take on the Kray twins. I'll be excited for when you review that :)

    1. Yeah Legend is an interesting one. I'm so unsure why they had Hardy play both given the Kray's weren't actually twins nor were they identical...perhaps they felt no one could match Hardy and look like him too! So glad you liked Slow West, it's a brilliant film! Thanks :)

    2. Hmmm. I'm pretty sure the Kray brothers were identical twins. And of course Tom Hardy is an excellent actor. Maybe you're thinking of Gary and Martin Kemp from Spandau Ballet who played the twins in an earlier movie who are brothers but not twins. Anyway, I hope you're having a good day, Sophie :)

    3. Definitely not identical but yes they were twins (don't know why I wrote that bit) but yes, not identical.
