Lifestyle Review: August Eat, Play, Love

Hello, hello. Where does the time go? I can't believe it's September already. August was definitely a month of food, cinema and friends and so I thought I'd take a look back at the past month in photos...

I joined the MovieRamblings team in July and, with my own blog as well, it became a crazy busy August for cinema. With FrightFest kicking off on the 27th, the weeks building up to it were filled with media and press screenings followed by endless review writing (but in a good way). I was even lucky enough to attend the UK screening of Legend in which Tom Hardy made a guest appearance with his dog, Woody. As I mentioned in my Legend post, I am a massive Tom Hardy fan and I majorly fan-girled standing next to him. I recorded his introduction to the movie which was shared by The Evening Standard and you can find it here

I made some time amongst the chaos this month to go see my friends in Southampton. Three days of eating crap but delicious food, cocktails by the docks, IKEA and watching movies/TV (plus a messy night out). We've all branched out recently - Vanessa is now in Bristol, Steph is in Wales, me in London and Ash and Sarah in Southampton but I love that we all still make a special effort to see each other when we can. I had a great few days catching up. And, as always, Jack and I  managed to squeeze in some lovely days out, just me and him.

As with every month and pretty much always, I ate out a lot in August and also made some fun dishes at home. If you know me, you'll know I love my food and trying new places. Whilst I know everyone eats and this may be a tad boring for some, I was particularly impressed with these meals this month and couldn't turn down a photo opportunity - including my own homemade chilli beef ramen. Damn good eatin'.

Last but not least, I got nominated for two bloggers awards this month! A lot of you fellow bloggers will know that the lovely blogger Hayley has organised a Bloggers Blog Awards ceremony for October. Much to my surprise, I was shortlisted for two awards including Best Social Media (Instagram) and Best Long Standing Fashion Blogger. Thank you so so much to those of you who nominated me in the first place. The competition is pretty fierce so I don't expect to win by any means but, if you like, you can VOTE FOR ME HERE! Thanks so much to those of you who have already shown their support - it really does mean so much.

Looking back at the month, it does seem pretty quiet and uneventful but it certainly didn't feel that way! August was well and truly knackering but I'm exciting for the next month and to share some fun news with you all! How was your August? What did you get up to? Hope everyone had a great weekend,

Until next time,

  8. I can't believe it's September, too. It's Labor Day, which signals the end of Summer in the US. I was able to catch up with a few friends over the Summer but I'd like to try a get-together of the sort you had with your mates before the end of the year. Do you consider yourself a good cook? The ramen looks yummy. Of course I totally voted for you, Sophie :)

  9. Ah yes I saw stuff online about Labor Day. Glad you had a good one and enjoyed seeing friends :) I don't know if I'm a very good cook but I do enjoy cooking curries, ramens and lasagna and things! So far no complaint from Jack haha. Japanese food and steaks are my favourite! How about you? :)

    1. I like so many things :) Thai, Indian, Japanese, and Italian are my faves. I'm no great shakes but I can cook chicken/beef larb, pad thai, chicken tikka, chicken teriyaki, and various pasta dishes. If you enjoy the cooking, you're probably very good at it. I hope you have a great week, Sophie!
