Foodie Review: The Dudes Delikatessen, Berlin

Back again with another foodie review to really get your teeth in to and today I've decided to take my food reviews international. Last week, Jack and I were in Kreuzberg, Berlin where we stumbled across The Dudes Delikatessen and, possibly, my new favourite burger bar ever.

**Update February 2019 - Unfortunately, The Dudes Deli is now permanently closed but remains one of the home of the best burger I've ever had. You can, however, still visit their clothing store**

Located in the heart of Berlin's answer to Shoreditch is The Dudes; a small but perfectly-sized meat and liquor bar with a tattoo and skate inspired edge. Now it may seem like a sweeping statement but The Dudes is now my favourite burger restaurant ever. Complete with their own awesome merchandise, stunning hand painted prints and whisky bottles decorating the walls - it's got as much style as it has selections of booze. Now, I may not be a drinker but that didn't mean I couldn't appreciate this place for it's amazing decor and menu of pulled pork burgers.

I went for The Cuban (pictured above) - a white flour bun containing pulled pork, bavarian ham, cheddar cheese, cream cheese, pickles and mustard. It's safe to say that this is the best burger I've ever had. Honestly. Crammed with flavour and made with the most tender, juicy meat, it was outstanding. This came as a lunch time deal with roasted potatoes with light cajun seasoning, coleslaw and free bottle of Fritz Kola. Unfortunately, I couldn't finish the whole plate though I would have loved to. Jack went for the BBQ Burger - pulled pork burger marinated in a home-made bourbon BBQ sauce, served with slaw, bacon and red onion. He also had a glass of Old Fashioned to wash it down as it would have been rude not to. Each dish is also served on a rather awesome printed plate which you can purchase for yourselves.

The service was great and, like many places in Berlin, friendly and efficient adding more to the great atmosphere of this deli. If this was in London, I would have easily expected to pay £20+ each yet for a large burger or meal deal, you're looking at only €6-10 a head depending on your poison. If you're lucky enough to be heading to Berlin anytime soon, I would certainly urge you to visit The Dudes and challenge you to find a better pulled pork burger.

What's the best burger you've ever eaten? Have you ever visited Berlin? As always, I love reading your comments so please do leave them below. Stand by for some German related spam as I have so many more photos to share with you all. Hope you liked today's review, more to follow shortly...

Until next time food lovers,

  7. This made me hungry just looking at it. My favourite burger place is Lunchbox Laboratory in Seattle, it's amazing. Definitely stop by if you're ever in the area. They have the best burgers I have ever had.

  8. Wow, that looks great! For a basic burger, I like the double double from In-N-Out in the US (best to get it animal-style). My biggest burger disappointment has to be the White Castle sliders. Yechhh! And I'm a fan of the Harold and Kumar movies. But some people seem to like them. Don't worry about German spam, I'm sure I'll love it as will many other people :)
