Travel Diary: Christmas in Berlin, Part I

So this week, Jack and I headed to Berlin for a festive get-away. Having been a few years ago, we already knew we loved the place but it was still the perfect opportunity to revisit some of our most loved sights. Here's a look at our travel diary from our first day in Berlin.

Despite still being pretty cold, the sun was well and truly shining on the East Side Gallery - the largest remaining segment of the Berlin wall. At 1.3km long, it's comprised of street art at it's best and me and Jack thought we'd go have a look at some of it's most iconic pieces. We also stopped off at Kreuzberg for some shopping and a spot of lunch at The Dudes Delikatessen for the best burger I've ever had...

So that's it for Part I of my Berlin photo diary and there's plenty more where that came from. Have you ever been to Berlin? Where would you like to visit next on your travels? As always, I love reading your comments so please do leave them below.

With love from Berlin,

  4. Those are nice pics, Sophie :) When I was young, I lived in southern Germany, in Bavaria. It wasn't until I was an adult that I saw Berlin and Hamburg. I imagine you and Jack have toured the Berliner Stadtschloss. If you haven't done so already, I recommend the Sanssouci in Potsdam which was the summer palace of Frederick the Great. I've never been to Scandinavia and I have an interest in the Nordic model of society so I would love to be able to visit there.

    1. Ah amazing. We've always said we'd like to visit the more Bavarian areas also - particularly Munic. Yes we spent our last day touring Potsdam, very beautiful. It tried to snow that day also! Jack loves Scandinavia too so I think we'll try visit one day. Was such an amazing trip, I imagine it's great to live there. Sad to be home! :)

  5. Wow! That's so beautiful! I love places that have art EVERYWHERE, as though the city is a living gallery. San Francisco and Oakland are a lot like that.
