Foodie Review: Dip & Flip, Wimbledon

A few weeks ago Jack and I were out one one of our date nights and stopped off at a burger bar before heading to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens for a second time. That burger bar was Dip and Flip Wimbledon - an independent company specializing in all things burger and where everything comes with a side of gravy.

Soon to open a third chain on the 15th January in Tooting, Dip and Flip boasts to be the best in gravy, french dips, hamburgers and craft beers. As well as a whole host of imported beers, they also serve a selection of milkshakes as well as dirty shakes for you adults. The decor reminds me of 1960's advertising; it has a perfect blend of nostalgia and vintage styled wall art combined with a fresh, modern feel.

The service on this particular visit seemed a little off and I noticed a few of the other tables had their orders messed up; possibly due to the place being full and it being a Friday night. However, on previous visits, I can safety say that the service has been excellent, friendly and the food made just right

If you ever get the chance to stop by, I would always recommend the Dip and Flip Burger - a cheeseburger with sliced roast beef or lamb, dunked in gravy and served with ketchup, mustard and pickles in a brioche bun. As with all their dishes, the burger comes with a gravy tray which is the perfect size to dip your burger. I opted for a side of french fries and a coke. As you can see from the above images, the burger itself is pure, unadulterated burger porn. I chose the roasted lamb for my Dip and Flip burger but I save the gravy for my fries. Despite being packed full of meat, the burger is a perfect size so not to make you feel too full.

The pricing is very much what you would expect from a restaurant on Wimbledon High Street -averaging around £15 per person depending on your choice of drinks. We finished up the night by heading over to the Wimbledon Curzon and watching Star Wars: The Force Awakens in one of my favourite screens.

Well, that's it for another foodie review. I'm not sure how many burgers I can continue eating with January healthy eating but I'm sure I can find some other places to review in the meantime. Have you tried Dip and Flip yet? What's your dipping sauce of choice? As always, I love reading your comments so please do leave them below!

Hope everyone is enjoying the New Year so far. Until next time,

  4. Ooo I must take my boyfriend to this restaurant, he'll love all the gravy - I'm not a massive gravy fan, but the burgers look insane! Love the interior as well.

  5. You seem to be posting a lot of burger reviews, Sophie. That's the sort of food porn I like :) Less pricey and not as fancy (but still cute looking) in the US is Johnny Rockets, which is a franchise restaurant chain with a 1950's burger decor. How are your fellow blog writers, critics, and regular people feeling about The Force Awakens in the UK? I reblogged a post that showed Daisy Ridley and John Boyega promoting the movie on Graham Norton's show but I haven't seen that episode. And I definitely want to see the movie again :)

    1. I know! There's definitely a pattern in the types of places Jack and I visit. No wonder my New Year's resolution is to lose weight! Worth it though! Ah that sounds amazing - I love all things vintage, especially diners!
Majority of people I've spoken to have loved it and seen it more than once, even at work. Although there's one or two people who just didn't understand it at all for bizarre reasonings. Ah yes! That was a great episode! Carrie Fisher bought her dog Gary with her also which was fun :)
