Beauty Review: Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks

Last month I shared my first Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in a January Beauty Haul. Cut to February and I couldn't resist but purchase a few extra additions following their restock. I'm not sure if this handful counts as a 'collection' just yet but I thought I'd share them all the same...

It seems that Jeffree Star Cosmetics are pretty hard to come by and, having tried out the range, it's pretty easy to see why they sell out so fast. For those of you who have completely ignored them blowing up your Instagram feed, Jeffree Star Cosmetics are created by Myspace original and glamour icon, Jeffree Star. Renowned for amazing makeup creations and, more prominently, his lips - he decided to create his own range of cruelty free, vegan makeup including liquid lipsticks, coloured balms and scrubs. Better yet, they're also completely paraben free AND gluten free but always bursting with colour and with a stunning matte finish. Here's my favourites so far...

Up first is my Posh Spice Liquid Velour Lipstick. I know I featured this in January but just look at it. I absolutely love the nude tone and it's very similar to one of my favourite ever lipsticks, Yash by MAC Cosmetics. The colour remains full, matte and keeps my lips moisturised for hours after application and I think the shade makes for the perfect day-to-night lipcolour as well as being a winner for all year round.

Next up is this stunning purple ideal for the spring/summer months - Blow Pony. Again, I was really impressed at how long it maintained its full, matte finish and I think the shade is the perfect way to add colour to any look (especially for someone, such as much myself, who tends to wear a lot of black). It's so unlike any lip colour I've purchased or found in the past and I absolutely love it along side my trusty MAC purples, Up the Amp and Heroine but this just really seems to pop in comparison. Being a lipgloss style brush, I was unsure as to how easy it would be to apply but the thin tip makes for a quick and simple application, whilst the thicker part makes for a great filler. I've discovered liquid lipstick is totally the way forward from now on and better yet - only a small amount of product is needed to create this gorgeous, long-lasting look.

Last but not least is this smouldering brown hew - Dominatrix. This is my ideal Autumn/Winter shade and I think it's stunning. Whilst it may not necessarily be one for the Spring/Summer months, it is an essential for any makeup bag (especially us goths) and just oozes classical noir glamour. Being such a dark tone, I would definitely recommend using a liner to define the edges but the lipgloss style brush makes for easy shaping. I seem to have collected quite a few browns over the last fews months including Media and a grey/brown in the form of Stone (all by MAC) but this has certainly replaced them for the time being.
 _______

If I'm lucky enough to get my paws on them, there's certainly more I have my eyes on and would love to add to my collection but that's it for my Jeffree Star favourites so far - have you tried out the collection yet? What do you think of my selections above? As always, I love reading your comments so please do share your thoughts with me below.

Until next time beauty lovers, hugs and kiss from

  5. I have Blow Pony and love the formula, it's insane but don't find myself reaching for it that often due to it being so out there! Have been wanting to get my hands on Posh Spice for a while now, it's such a pretty 90's brown and looks so lush on you! x

  6. I love a good matte lipstick right now, and these look like gorgeous colours! Good that they last a while too, nothing worse than having to re-apply all the time! I am a little in love with the NYX at the moment, but might try these once I want a new shade! :)

    1. I've never tried the Velvetines but I have heard that! The thing I like about these is that they go on so easy despite being a liquid and they didn't feel dry at all. They're so easy for overlining too cos the colour is so thick and full. Ohh i want that, I need more! Omg me too! His videos are awesome xx

  11. I've got the unicorn blood and although I find the formula a bit smudgy, it's a wondrous colour. Dominatrix would be my pick of your 3

    1. AHH! That's on my list of must haves for sure. It's such a beautiful red. It's a bit darker so a liner is probably needed, a bit like with Dominatrix :) x
