Foodie Review: Dirty Burger, Shoreditch

Back again with another foodie review and today I'm sinking my teeth in to some Shoreditch meat at Dirty Burger, a fast-food joint located just a stones throw from the Box Park. Offering a small menu of just three burgers, two kinds of chips and a small selection of drinks, they're proving that less is certainly more. Here's my review...

This was my first experience to Dirty Burger although it's featured on my long list of places to eat as Jack is a regular visitor to the chain. As to be expected with all Shoreditch bars and restaurants, Dirty Burger of course has a great theme to it's decor. It's interior is stripped back to steel walls, exposed bolts, rustic stools and wooden counter tops from which food is served on lunch trays. I particularly love their branding - printed napkins and food packaging with a nostalgic feel.

Situated just opposite the iconic Box Park in Shoreditch, Dirty Burger specialises in cheeseburgers served alongside crinkle cut fries and a tasty selection of shakes. Whilst their menu might be small, comprised of just three kinds of burger, it certainly offers the essentials for true burger lovers. Why over complicate things? Here's what we ordered...

When in doubt, keep it simple. I opted for a Cheese Burger with crinkle cut fries and a coke. It might sound basic but after a long day of Shoreditch sightseeing, this certainly hit the spot. The meat is cooked just right, perfectly pink with just the right amount of sauce and salad. Personally, I could of done with some American cheese but the cheddar serves a good substitute. The chips however, blew my mind. They weren't too oily and served with just the right level of seasoning. Nothing fancy, just good old fashioned chips, full of flavour and served at their best.

I don't think I've ever ordered a milkshake in my life but it didn't stop me from sampling someone else's. The above is DB's signature Oreo Milkshake which is essentically oreo icecream in liquid form. It's super creamy and tasted pretty awesome, even for someone who doesn't like milkshakes.

For a seemingly basic menu, a main and side with a canned drink will set you back around £12 each which, although it might sound a lot, is very typical of Shoreditch restaurants. However, for the flavour and quality of the food - you are certainly getting back what you pay for. Besides great grub, the service is friendly and most importantly, it's very efficient. We waited just a few moments for our food and, if you sit yourself at the bar you can watch it being cooked before your very eyes. If you want to keep it simple, don't want the fuss and just want a good, quality burger and chips - Dirty Burger is your place.

Well that's it for another foodie review. Have you ever tried Dirty Burger? What are your favourite places to just keep it simple? As always, I love reading your thoughts so please do leave them below.

Until next time,

  1. I really HAVE to visit Shoreditch! This looks so good, and I am a fan of crinkle cut fries! The milkshake has me sold too, as I LOVE oreos! I think £12 isn't bad for a burger meal really! Great review Sophie :)

    1. It's pretty darn good! Ha I'm not sure really? I'm not a huge fan of milky things. I find them really filling and I'm not that fussed about the taste - this one did taste pretty nice but mostly cos it just tasted like icecream :) Thanks Gil, too you!
