Lifestyle Review: My Living Room

So, I've been in two minds about sharing this but many of you have been asking for me to do a tour of my flat. It's safe to say, not everything is quite how I'd like it just yet but I caved and thought I'd share how my new living room looks so far...

It's certainly not worth pinning on Pinterest but it's home. I can't believe Jack and I moved in two months ago already. As I say, there's certainly some areas we'd like to improve (a new TV and getting rid of some clutter for one!) but the living room is definitely my favourite room in the flat. We opted for a monochrome colour scheme with pink and some copper accenting and since then, shopping for home goods has taken over a big part of my life. Like, the home section of supermarkets is now way way more exciting to me then the confectionary aisles. I'm not even sorry. IKEA is pretty much my Mecca.

There is, of course, a lot of movie and TV referencing going on in our house and, one of my favourite things, is the art on the walls. Naturally, all of them (bar the kitchen) are movie themed but, without getting deep and meaningful,  all of them are significant. The food related ones in the kitchen (pictured above) were purchased in Germany, at a diner outlet we visited together in Kreuzberg (see here). They had such an amazing food and a store with beautiful work by Mcbess - it was definitely a highlight of the trip. The Warriors print, in particular, goes back to when we first started dating. Not long after we got together, Jack took me to a Warriors themed design exhibition by New Rule Collective, in Shoreditch where they had this print for sale. It really stood out to me and so I had to treat myself to it when we moved in. It's screen-printed by hand (as are all of our movie prints), with just a few made but mostly, it reminds me of the early days and of course - an awesome movie.

The other prints are also films we've enjoyed together as well as being really beautiful screen prints. Oh, and by the way, in case you were wondering, the giant plant in the corner is named Greg. We have a lot of plants and we like to name them.

So there you have it - a brief glimpse inside my happy place. I did warn you it wouldn't be too exciting! Where do you get your home design inspiration from? Have you got a favourite interior trend? As always, I love reading your comments so please do leave them below.

Hope everyone's having a fantastic Easter bank holiday weekend and eating all the chocolate! Until next time,

  6. It looks so good and I hope my home looks even remotely as nice as this. I think monochrome with Plenty of Ikea and a nice dose of individuality is the way to decorate. =^-^=

    1. haha I think I have a lot of stuff on the shelves and stuff at the moment that maybe need to be moved around. That's why i stored all my many dvds away in storage boxes. Aw those are actual real taxidermy butterflies and totally, I love cactus plants - I have sooo many haha thank you hun, i'm so glad you like it :) Aw I know what you mean - i couldn't wait to move out. I just got things slowly so if i saw something I liked i just sort of gathered bits and pieces as I went so when I finally did move, I didn't get it all at once :) xx

    1. Ahh SHEINSIDE - I'm surprised your site resorts to blog spam to get traffic as I would have thought you were well known enough not too. Especially as it means your bounce rate will be so high when they realise you're just spam. Really bad SEO tactics

  18. It looks so pleasant, Sophie! I agree with the above that it's nice enough to go on Pinterest and even a home magazine :) I'm really curious about how Jack got into The Warriors. I remember watching the movie because I used to watch Dexter that had James Remar playing Dexter's adoptive father.

    1. Ha thank you Gil, not sure it's worth being in a magazine though haha. He got in the The Warriors because I made him watch it. He'd heard of it as his dad is a fan but I've made him watch quite a few films - just one the joys of dating a film nerd :)
