Foodie Review: Pergola on the Roof with Television Centre

Pergola on the Roof neon sign and flowers
This Sunday, my favourite blogger babes (Tara and Emily) and I headed over the iconic Television Centre in White City to check out it's latest showcase, Pergola on the Roof - an exclusive pop-up food court. Here's a little look at our day...

Once home to the iconic headquarters of the BBC, Television Centre is now making way for a new build of stylish apartments, restaurants and a hotel. In the meantime, however, they've opened a pop-up food and drinks court, 170 feet above West London - Pergola on the Roof

Located just a stones throw from Westfield Shopping Centre, you'll see it's neon entrance under the giant Television Centre sign. Should you choose to take the stairs, you'll be treated to the stunning hand-painted art work of stunning birds and plants before finally reaching "The Jungle". Inspired by  the Mediterranean and quite literally covered in flowers, "The Jungle" is a pergola made up of four established London restaurants with varied price points including Patty & Bun, Rabbit, Salt Yard and LeCoq. In the heart of it all is a bar serving an extensive list of cocktails, wines and a selection soft drinks or you non-drinkers such as myself. Having grabbed ourselves a bench and a drink each, it was time to get some grub...

The good thing about the layout is that even in a group, you don't have to all order from the same restaurant. So whilst Emily and Tara chose to order from Patty & Bun (easily a favourite London eatery of mine) I was intrigued to try out something new and went with Rabbit - a blend of traditional British wild and foraged food. I opted for a dish of Hand Dived Scallop, served with wild garlic butter and chorizo brioche crumb, as well as the Sussex Beef Steak. This was steak served on top of aubergine, paprika yoghurt and rocket pesto. Both were absolutely delicious although definitely at the higher end of choices of food the pergola has to offer. If you'd like to spend a little less and be a little more full, there is of course Patty & Bun who serve a selection of burgers with a variety of sides and fries. Having perved over Tara and Emily's burger choices, I definitely had a bad case of food envy.

Overall, I was super impressed with Pergola on the Roof. Not only for it's amazing decor and pretty flowers but for the choice of food to suit all pockets. The staff were really friendly and the food was delicious. I can certainly see myself heading back there a lot of the summer months although I'd certainly recommend booking online for larger groups as it gets filled up pretty quick.

That's it for another lifestyle post. Don't forget that The Pergola on the Roof is open from now until the 29th August and you can also subscribe online to get your free drink. Have you been to Pergola on the Roof yet? Where are your favourite summer spots in London? As always, I love reading your comments so please do leave me lots of lovely ones below.

Until next time,

  3. It looks great and I'm glad that the weather was nice for you and your friends, Sophie :) I remember watching a scene from a docudrama about Doctor Who producer Verity Lambert where they were on 'the doughnut' of the Television Centre. They must have filmed that scene shortly before the BBC stopped broadcasting there. It's nice that the redevelopment of the area has come off well.

    1. Yeah I remember that! They also had a Doctor Who room there for a little while. My Dad actually worked for the BBC and at the Television Centre for about 10 years so I spent a lot of my childhood there before they moved him over to New Broadcasting House which is also an awesome building. Definitely bought back a lot of memories! Very cool place :)

  4. Sophie this looks beautiful! I am so very jealous of all the adventures you get up to in London. It makes me want to visit so desperately. Do they still have television studios at the building? It seems like such an interesting place. Have a great week Sophie

    1. Yeah it's not been the actual BBC building since 2013 - that's at New Broadcasting House now near Oxford Circus. It's pretty much just a building site at the moment with this beautiful place at the top of it :) xx
