Beauty Review: Kat Von D Lock-It Foundation and Liquid Lipstick

Kat Von D Beauty Blog Review
Fighting the crowds at Oxford Circus last month, I finally got my hands on some of the Kat Von D Beauty range. Whilst it's nothing new to a lot of you, I thought I'd share a long overdue review with a look at the Lock-It Foundation and a Liquid Lipstick...

Kat Von D Lock-It Liquid Foundation, 30ml in Shade 44, £27.00 - Having seen some people order completely the wrong shade for their skin online, I thought it best to go to the store and have the foundation tested out on my skin first hand before buying. As someone who's switched to entirely cruelty-free beauty products this year, I'm still expanding my new makeup collection and was excited to read such good reviews of this one. I opted for the 44 shade and I would say it's pretty darn spot on - an identical match to my old MAC foundation in NW20.

Having worn this over the last few weeks, it is the best cruelty free foundation I've ever used although I wouldn't recommend it for combination or oil prone skin. If you've used MAC in the past, I'd say it's the closest thing you'll get in terms of the colour and the overall feel. However, having combination skin myself, I did find that it would cause a build up of oil as the day went on resulting it it practically sliding off my face. Another thing I will say is that I do tend to use a little bit more product at a time than I did with my MAC Pro-Longwear Foundation which is a shame given it's actually more expensive. Overall, I would probably only really recommend this product for dry skin and if you don't mind topping it up from day to night. I give  the Kat Von D Lock-It Liquid Foundation at 6/10 for sure. The search for a long lasting cruelty free foundation continues.

Kat Von D Liquid Lipstick Review

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick, 6.6ml in Bow N Arrow, £16.00 - Since discovering Jeffree Star Liquid Lipsticks, I have been converted and convinced myself that normal lipsticks just can't fulfill my needs. I am officially all about them liquids. And so, I thought I'd try out the Kat Von D Liquid Lipstick in Bow N Arrow. Besides the obvious gorgeous colour, the first thing I noticed was the applicator. Unlike the JS brush, it's much more of a solid shape which does make it much easier to apply smoother lines and define a more clear lip shape. However, it does take a few applications to build up your colour. Another bonus also is that for a slightly cheaper retail price, you actually more product in this one than the Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick which is actually 5.6ml even though it looks bigger.

One downside however is that, with Jeffree Star, I know that once I apply the lipstick in the morning, I'm good until the afternoon and I've gone whole days without topping up. But with the KVD one, I'm good until maybe I eat or drink anything. In terms of the long lasting finish, I still think Jeffree is in the lead on this one but overall I really liked the lipstick and it was the colour that sealed the deal. The Kat Von D range of lipsticks is just beautiful and so I'm hoping that (with xmas coming *hint hint*), I will start to build a proper collection. I give the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick a 7.5/10 - well worth purchasing, especially as it's now so readily available in the UK.

    2. Oh, I don't have a twitter account. People seem to use it to express so much hate. It would be better if there were more people like you who are sensible on twitter.

    3. Aw ok! Yeah I just don't have the energy for it really. If you put something like that out there then you welcome an argument/response and I can't be arsed for that. Luckily, there's always the 'mute' button for people who choose to :)

    1. Haha you're forgiven! Although if I lived in the US (or the postage wasn't so crazy!) I'd definitely have way more US branded makeup. I love Jeffree Star. Thanks hun :) xx
