Beauty Review: Tangle Angel Professional Brushes

This weekend, a little treat turned up on my doorstep in the form of an angel-winged hairbrush. Having been spotted in Wonderland Magazine in the hand of Kim Kardashian, these babies have been selling like hot cakes. Intrigued to see what all the fuss was all about, I thought I'd give it a go.

I'll be honest, I don't really take much care of my hair. I get my fringe cut once a month and the rest trimmed every six months or so (if I'm feeling fancy). And, other than shampoo and conditioner, I don't use any products what so ever unless you count dry shampoo. Maybe hairspray if I'm going to a wedding. So, naturally, I'm not really the type of person to spend £12+ on a hairbrush. However, having tested out the Tangle Angel I'm beginning to see why some people do.

For those of you who have not yet heard of the brand, Tangle Angel produce a selection of professional detangling hairbrushes with anti-bacterial, anti-static and heat resistant properties. Available in a number of metallic colours and sizes, they can be used for both wet and dry hair, hair extensions and styling when blow drying. The paddle brush shape of the brush is also designed to make detangling pain-free.

The brush comes in 8 different shades and the pink is probably my favourite of the range but I thought it best to go for a darker shade because...goth. When I first opened up the box and gave it a go, it felt strange. Almost like something I would brush my cat with. The bristles are plastic (but super flexible) and it's so light-weight it feels like a toy Barbie brush. But maybe Barbie had the right idea. It sounds really weird but somehow it doesn't really feel like your brushing your hair at all because you can't actually feel any tug or resistance. And they're pretty spot on in that there is no static at all and it really did make life easier when brushing my hair whilst wet.

All in all, I think I'm pretty darn pleased with my new brush. Having recently rediscovered my love for hair extensions also, it's really handy to have a light-weight brush I can carry around in my handbag. Luckily, they also do these brushes in miniature sizes (The Angel Baby) if you need something more compact. I will say that, to me, they don't feel like an expensive or luxury item but they certainly seem to do the job if you want a decent detangler. I can't say I fully understand how they know it's anti-bacterial but I'll happily take their word for it. I certainly haven't  had any issues with it so far.

If you want to get your hands on one of these little cherubs, you can find more info about them here. And remember how I said it felt like a brush for my cat, well they also do a range for pets for all your doglets, kitties and bun-buns to enjoy. But tell me, have you ever used a Tangle Angel before? What detangling hairbrushes do you swear by? As always, I love reading your comments so please do leave me lots of lovely ones down below.

Until next time,

  2. My hair is thick and difficult to manage. I use a Denman hairbrush (it has very sturdy bristles) and I keep it short. What I find funny about this post is that most of your blog followers (including me) find your hair to be amazingly fabulous, Sophie :) And you tell us it doesn't require much maintenance. I remember when you presented a question to Paul Rudd when you had the Avengers cast in front of you and the person picking the people to ask questions made a comment on how great your hair was!

    1. That's a good point actually - never thought of that! The handle on this one is pretty good as it's angled so it's easy to grip when wet :)

  6. What a beautiful brush! It looks wonderful. It's great to invest in a brush which doesn't tug too much on the hair. I have a tangle teezer which does agree with my hair and doesn't tug.

    Gorgeous looking brush!

  8. I've heard great things about this, like you I don't really do much with my hair, never get it cut apart from a fringe trim and never really brush it. Think it's time I got myself one
