Beauty Review: Summer Essentials with JustMyLook

Today's post is a little bit different from my usual blog ascetic and that's because it's coming to you from sunny Palma, Mallorca. Just before I headed off on my travels, cosmetics retailer, JustMyLook, were kind enough to send me some Summer essentials to enjoy on my trip. Here's a little look...

I'm currently sat in the garden of our private villa. The sun is shining and the only noise I can hear is the pool water splashing against the sides. So, why on earth am I blogging whilst on holiday? Well, the truth is - it's probably the only time I'll get to myself for a while. With our weekends regularly booked up and my new(ish) job, I just haven't really found the time to be as active in the blogging world as I once was. So I'm taking every opportunity I can get so you may have to bear with me for a bit. Anyway - on to my latest beauty review.

For those of you who have not yet heard of JustMyLook*, they are an online cosmetics store offering a whole range of UK and US beauty products at discounted prices. Of course, when they first got in touch, my immediate reaction was "will they have cruelty free stuff, though" and they do. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they have a wide selection of CF and vegan products - as well as many well known drug store brands. To sort me out on my holiday, they sent me these skin, face and hair treats to share with you all.

Australian Gold Eye Candy Tanning Accelerator (250ml)* - Those of you who have followed me for a while will have noticed that I don't really do tan. I go round looking like a ghost most of the time. However, this product caught my eye and not just because of the beautiful rainbow bottle. Australian Gold Eye Candy is an advanced tanning accelerator lotion with 15x bronzers that hydrates and nourishes the skin. It's pretty simple to apply, just use it as you would a normal moisturiser, making sure to rub it in fully and then thoroughly wash your hands after. Although I would strongly recommend using gloves.

Despite only being a top up to your normal tan, you only need a tiny amount as it's very moisturising and works quickly in the heat. I really loved the sweet strawberry scent and you can really feel the effects of the Shea Butter which leaves your skin feeling amazing. You can also use this once home to keep yourself topped up.

Milani Make It Dewy Setting Spray Hydrate + Illuminate + Set (60ml)* - Since we arrived it's been over 30C/86F so makeup hasn't been an option. Thank god for eyelash extensions, aye? However, when it cools down at night, this setting spray has really come in handy.

Just as it says on the tin, the Make It Dewy Setting Spray allows you to prime, set and hydrate your skin to keep your makeup long-lasting with a dewy glow. The bottle itself boasts a 16-hour cooling and refreshing finish whilst also illuminating the skin and I have to say it's actually pretty spot on. I really like the cooling feel and that you can wear it by itself or under and over your makeup. It feels really light and really helps to just set the makeup in place - especially when you're a sweaty mess on holiday. Looking forward to using this more when I get home.

OLAPLEX No 3 Hair Perfector (100ml)* - You may have heard of this stuff before and it's pretty much a hair miracle. Mostly used for people who bleach and colour their hair, OLAPLEX is a deep treatment that works to repair damage caused by lightening, colouring or excessive heat styling. This is often how a lot of people go from black dyed hair to grey or silver without their hair falling out and it's impressive stuff. OLAPLEX is entirely cruelty free and is really easy to use. Simply apply to wet hair (do not use it with shampoo) then comb through. Leave in for around 10 minutes and rinse it out and with a Sulphate free shampoo then condition.

I don't have bleached hair and I rarely use straighteners anymore but I could really feel the difference on my hair afterwards - especially after the chlorine from the pool. It makes your hair feel super soft and shiny. Just what I needed after having sweaty, dry hair all week. One thing I will say is that OPALEX is pretty expensive although JustMyLook seem to sell it for a lot less than other places I've found. If you've got really damaged hair this is the best professional treatment on the market for sure.

Well, that's it for another beauty review. Nothing left to do now but lay back and enjoy the rest of my holiday - from which I'll be sharing my postcards very soon. Big thanks for JustMyLook for these beauty bits. Have you tried out any of the products above or shopped with JustMyLook before? As always, I love reading your comments so please do leave me lots of lovely ones down below.

Until next time,

  2. Just catching up on your blog, Sophie! What a great backdrop for a beauty review. I've heard amazing things about Olaplex although in the US I heard they will only sell it to you over the counter if you are a professional hairdresser. Must be good stuff! I hope you had a fantastic vacation XD

  5. I have never heard of this company before, but I think I might have to look into that Australian Gold Eye Candy for my holidays next year! I seem to take ages to tan and then just burn so it would be nice to appear golden for a change!
