Outfit Of the Day: Dr Martens x Lazy Oaf

Last weekend, it dawned on me that I hadn't been to Camden Town in nearly four years and that something had to be done. Eager for some fresh blog inspiration and a hungry belly, I jumped on the Northern Line with fellow blogger babe, Fran, to catch up on some long overdue London sight seeing.

OK so this post is a bit of a mix of an outfit post with a lifestyle review thrown in. Like I said, it had been a good few years since I'd ventured to Camden Town. As a young teenager, I would visit Camden almost every weekend on my under 16s travel card and would purchase all my emo band hoodies, studded belts and £2 Chinese food tubs from it's cobbled streets. Of course, Camden has changed it's image a bit since then but it is never without it's charm. In fact, I think I love it far more now with it's endless restaurants and food stalls, random markets and stunning street art.

With the boyfriend away for the weekend and in need of some inspiration, Fran and I's trip was a bit impromptu but necessary. I thought it was finally time to take my Dr Martens x Lazy Oaf pieces out for a spin and so I wore a Lazy Oaf Frilly Hearts Mini Tshirt Dress with matching Dr Marten Black Heart Softy shoes with velvet hearts and laces. Being obsessed with all things love heart, I'm so glad I managed to nap these in time as they're not only super comfy but just look how cute!

Having walked the streets of London all day, we finished up our outing with a Crosstown doughnut. I opted for a Beetroot one and although I was nervous to try it, it was amazing and light. And did not taste at all like beetroot. I later found out that beetroot is actually use as an alternative to oil and butter as it keeps the dough naturally moist and fluffy. I would definitely recommend. All in all, we had a great day out wandering round our old hang outs. A big thanks to Fran for snapping some outfit shots for me too.

Well, that's it for another outfit/lifestyle post. Have you ever been to Camden before? Where are some of your favourite, nostalgic places to visit? As always, I love reading your comments so please do leave me lots of lovely ones down below.

Until next time,

  3. You look terrific, Sophie! The red hearts over black are an excellent combination :) Both you and Fran take wonderful photographs. I would have eaten a lot more than just a doughnut if I were in Camden Town. Besides all the fashion shops catering to emos and goths, were you also into the music venues that they have there?

    1. Aw thank you so much Gil :) Haha tbh I totally could have but was very good. They had a really cool place next to Crosstown called the Cheese Bar which brags serving the "best grilled cheese in London" so I will be back to take them up on it! Tbh alot of the emo and goth stuff has calmed down a little bit but there's alot of generic crap about it. I didn't visit any music venues on this occasion but I have been to Underworld and Koko a few times there. And Kentish Town Forum is only up the road :)

  7. Those shoes are so cute, and you paired them so well with the rest of your outfit. I've not been to Camden in years but I only went for a quick trip, would be interesting to go back and see it again.

  8. You look beautiful, Sophie! I love the outfit and how you've paired it with the heart shoes. I haven't been to Camden before but I hear it is very iconic for its rock 'n' roll culture and punks. Is that right? Excellent photos as usual XD

    1. Aw thank you so much hun. Yeah it's sort of known for being a bit edgy and was very big back in the 70s for the punk movement :) Thanks hun xx
