Lifestyle Event: #MoreThanCatVent at Lady Dinah's Cat Emporium

Where has the year gone? I can't believe I'm already sharing my first Christmas post! A few weeks ago, I was invited along by MoreThan for an evening of festive feline fun at Lady Dinah's Cat Emporium. Here's a look at our evening and a guide to how you can make your very own advent calendar for your pet...

If you've not yet been to Lady's Dinah's Emporium before, it's located just a short walk from Shoreditch High Street and well worth the visit. Once inside, you can sit with their many, gorgeous rescue cats or simply just enjoy the amazing Mad Hatter decor with a hot chocolate and a slice of cake. Having arrived, we ventured downstairs, into the rabbit hole, to get started on some Christmas crafting with the lovely ladies from Midas Touch Crafts

Downstairs, the tables were laden with glitter, coloured card and all manner of crafty bits and pieces. Trying not to get too distracted by the cats walking around, we began work on our kitty advent calendars. Of course, to keep us refreshed whilst we worked so very hard, we drank adorable hot drinks with cat face decorations, as well as mulled wine to get us in the festive spirit.

Of course, it wasn't all about eating and drinking. The night was all about making the purrfect treat for our feline friends. We created our advent calendars by making 24 tubes out of coloured card and sticking them together in to a pyramid formation to look like a tree. I don't tend to explain these things very well but, kindly, MoreThan* have put together a step-by-step guide which you can try out ourself to make your very out advent calendar for your pet. Click here to see the guide.  Naturally, we took a short break from our craft masterpieces to enjoy some amazing Christmas afternoon tea treats; including some delicious gingerbread and lemon snowflakes.

Once our advent calendars were built, it was time to fill each tube with a different treat. The baller pictured above, as you can see, was safely guarding all the Dreamies but we managed to get some despite his efforts.

I'll be honest, it was very difficult for me to get a lot done with so many cute cats running round. But I have to say also that this event was probably one of my most favourite as a blogger. You can't really ask for much more than cats, Christmas and cake, can you? Well...maybe throw in a film and you've described my perfect day.

That's it for another event post. Huge thanks to MoreThan for hosting such a fun and festive event. But tell me, how will you be treating your pet this Christmas? Do you have any Christmas traditions you like to do with your animals? As always, I love reading your comments so please do leave me lots of lovely ones below. Don't forget to check out my guide to making your own calendar here

Until next time,

  1. Cats and Christmas - what a great combination! It's long past due for me to get a pet. I think of my cats of the past who have passed on and they were such wonderful companions.
I hope you are having a great Christmas season, Sophie! I was preoccupied over the Thanksgiving holidays because my dad had some medical problems. It's now been properly diagnosed as vesibular neuritis, which is a condition that induces vertigo. His prognosis is good and the ENT specialist he went to thinks his inner ear disturbance will disappear gradually on its own. I feel so much better and I am glad I don't have to worry about the Christmas season as far as the health of my family goes. I've had to spend a few Christmases in the hospital with my mom, who passed on in 2016.

    1. I thought so too! What's stopping you from getting one? You've been saying that for a while now.

Ah I'm really sorry to hear that :( Well, that's good to hear that the doctor thinks it will resolve itself soon. I hope your Christmas this year will be much happier

  2. Fabulous post Sophie, you seem to be always doing something new and interesting, thanks for sharing this event! I can see why this could be one of your favourites, it has such a cute and unique vibe. Your photos show the event beautifully, and the cats are so adorable. Basil, our dog many years ago, used to love opening presents with his paws so we would wrap him a treats stocking for dogs. We keep chickens now, and they like to gift us the odd present under the tree, and we sign and wrap them with them in mind. Hope you enjoy more of the festivities over the season! :-) xx

    1. Aw thanks, Helen! I'm glad you think so.

That's SO cute! What a good boy. What kind of dog was he? I love chickens, that's such a lovely idea. Do they lay eggs regularly?
