Lifestyle Review: American Goodies Haul

I'm not entirely sure why but I really enjoy seeing people's hauls; be them from holiday or just general shopping trips. As such, I naturally assumed that a number of you may be just as nosey as me and would be interested in seeing which items I picked up whilst on my recent travels to the United States.

It's no secret that Classical Hollywood monsters are one of the great loves of my life - even better when they're tied in with beauty products (like these lipsticks, here). Before we travelled to America, I came stumbled across Olivia Frankenstein's Instagram page, and consequently her online store. I just HAD to get myself these three pieces from her collection.

The two soaps are made from vegan friendly shea and mango butter; meaning they're packed full of essential oils to cleanse and moisturise. Plus they smell great and look how pretty! The Greta Gremlin vinyl sticker, on the other hand, takes pride of place on my MacBook. The postage to the UK is rather high (more than the cost of the items themselves) and so I was glad I could pick these up whilst I was in the US.

In keeping with the Gremlins theme is this Officially Licensed Stripe Mogwai puppet. Yes, a seemingly strange thing to buy on holiday but I've been a long time obsessive of all things Gremlins and I just had to have this little guy. Whilst wandering the streets of New York, we came across a huge and incredible Halloween store, selling pretty much every prop from any film of TV programme you can think of. It was amazing.

This particular limited edition puppet is made in collaboration with Warner Bros. by the same professionals who made the real Mogwai puppets used in the movie. I just love him too much. You can also find them available (along with some other incredible horror treats) via this website here

One of the highlights of my trip was visiting 3 States in just one day. Whilst in Salem, Massachusetts, myself and my friend Rose visited a few of the little shops. In particular, Rose was keen to check out Witch City Wicks - a place known for their vegan friendly candles. As well as selling a whole load of beautiful books and candles, they also sold a whole host of witchy curiosities. I took home some of my favourite pieces including this African butterfly taxidermy frame, a pennant flag by Beeteeth Salt Lake and a jar of Salem witch matches.

Of course, no trip to the States would be complete without coming home with at least $100 worth of sweets. Before heading to the airport, Jack and I stopped by 7/11 and Walgreens to stock up on some of our favourites to take back with us. Some of my favourites are Mountain Dew, Cheeto Puffs, Peanut butter M&Ms (not pictured because I ate them all), Flips milk chocolate pretzels and, of course, Sour Patch Kids.

Last but not least, I just had to take home a few of the usual crappy souvenirs. Much like London, New York is absolutely crammed full of tacky souvenir stores - each with their own random treats at various prices. Did you ever really go to NYC if you don't come home with a I Heart NY hoody, I Heart NY mug, keyring, Statue of Liberty headband and miniature American flag

Well, that's it for my America mini haul. What do you make of my random collection of goodies? Do you like to bring home odd bits and pieces when you go on holiday? As always, I love reading your comments so please do leave me lots of lovely ones below.

Until next time nosey neighbours,

  2. American Hauls are definitely my favourite thing to see.
I love the Stripe puppet so much! I've got a singing Gizmo toy which is one of my most prized possessions so I can totally understand buying something like that on holidays x
