Film Event: March Movie Nights with Sony Home Entertainment

Lockdown has quite come to an end just yet but lucky for us, Sony Home Entertainment are making March Movie Nights easy with the release of six new digital releases available to Download & Keep and rent each week throughout March. So no matter if you're a lover of thrillers, comedies or dramas, there's something for every movie fan to enjoy.

To make the movie night in extra special, Sony Home Entertainment* and Honest Burger teamed up to serve up a right treat. Complete with a look at the movies, we were also gifted an incredible burger kit from Honest Burger so we could enjoy a feast with the films. Our Honest At Home kit* included fresh burgers for two, Honest burger sauce, delicious pickles, red onion, american cheese, bacon, french mustard, rosemary seasoning for fries - and, of course, an easy guide to making the perfect burgers.

Bar Stevie over-toasting his bun (that's how he likes it), I think we did a pretty good job - and the burgers tasted absolutely incredible. So, with our dinner all sorted, it was time to enjoy some of the amazing new films Sony have on offer through out March. Here's a run-down...

The Climb (Michael Angelo Covino, 2019)

The Climb (Michael Angelo Covino, 2019) - Available from 1st March comes this amusing and awkward film about real-life best friends Mike and Kyle, whose profound connection has been made into a rich, humane and frequently uproarious film about the boundaries (or lack of) in all close friendships.

The Last Vermeer (Dan Friedkin, 2019)

The Last Vermeer (Dan Friedkin, 2019) tells the intriguing true story of Han van Meegeren (played by Guy Pierce), a Dutch painter, art dealer and enigma who became famous for selling a rare Vermeer to Hitler's second in command, Hermann Göring. Starring Guy Pearce, Claes Bang (from BBC's Dracula) as Joseph Piller, the film follows the flamboyant van Meegeren as he is accused of collaboration. Available to Download & Keep and Rent from 1st March.

The Burnt Orange Heresy (Giuseppe Capotondi, 2019)

The Burnt Orange Heresy (Giuseppe Capotondi, 2019) - On 8th March, Elizabeth Debicki, Claes Bang (again), Donald Sutherland and Mick Jagger (yes, that's right) star in The Burnt Orange Heresy; an elegant and erotic artwork thriller following charming and ambitious art critic James Figueras (Bang) who agrees to steal a painting for wealthy art dealer Joseph Cassidy (Jagger). As his greed and ambition get the better of him, he finds himself caught in a web of his own making.

Words on the Bathroom Walls (Thor Freudenthal, 2020)

Words on the Bathroom Walls (Thor Freudenthal, 2020) - Following on 15th March, Words on the Bathroom Walls, tells the story of witty and introspective Adam, played by Charlie Plummer. Adam appears to be a typical young adult, but after being expelled halfway through his senior year he is diagnosed with a mental illness. When he meets outspoken and fiercely intelligent Maya (Taylor Russell), there is an instant soulful and comforting connection. As their romance deepens, she inspires him to open his heart and not be defined by his condition.

The Last Shift (Andrew Cohn, 2020)

The Last Shift (Andrew Cohn, 2020) - Starring Richard Jenkins and Shane Paul McGhie, The Last Shift is released on 22nd March. Richard Jenkins (a favourite actor of mine known for Burn After Reading and much more) plays Stanley, an aging fast-food worker, who plans to call it quits after 38 years on the graveyard shift at Oscar’s Chicken and Fish. His last weekend on the job takes a turn while training his replacement, Jevon (Shane Paul McGhie), as these two who share little in common are brought together through circumstance. A flicker of comradery sparks during the long overnight hours in a quiet kitchen.

The Kid Detective (Evan Morgan, 2020)

The Kid Detective (Evan Morgan, 2020) - Finally on 29th March, dark comedy noir The Kid Detective, starring The OC’s Adam Brody is released.   This smart, tragic and sharply funny crime drama observes the once-celebrated kid detective (Adam Brody) continuing to solve the same trivial mysteries between hangovers and bouts of self-pity. That is until a naïve client (Sophie Nélisse) brings him his first adult case—to find out who brutally murdered her boyfriend.

Well, that's it for another film event. Will you be checking out any of these this March? Which of them would you like to see the most? As always, I love reading your comments so please do leave me lots of lovely comments below.

Until next time film fans,

*Disclaimer: This is a collaborative post with Sony Home Entertainment and Honest Burger. The kit was gifted to us but, as always, all opinions are my own.
