Film Event: Star Wars: The Last Jedi European Premiere, Royal Albert Hall

I'm sorry to say it but my life has peaked at the age of just twenty-six. Last night, I had the absolute honour of attending the European Premiere of Star Wars: The Last Jedi at the Royal Albert Hall. With a prime spot on the red carpet, the cast in attendance and an array of A-list guests, it was surely a night to remember.

Armed with a social media pass, I grabbed myself a spot on the red carpet and eagerly awaited the arrival of the cast; ready to snap away whilst unsuccessfully quietening my internal screams. When I arrived, festivities were already in full swing - with hundreds of fans dressing in incredible costumes and just as desperate to catch a glimpse of Mark Hamill, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega and many more.  Call us Star Wars fans what you like but you can never say we don't go hard when it comes to supporting the franchise. Thankfully for us, we didn't have to wait too long before the cast and crew were ready to walk the carpet....

Naturally, Disney really know how to throw a good premiere. To kick off the red carpet arrivals, we witnessed a parade of Stormtroopers marching to the iconic Imperial March music. Followed shortly after them were some of the real stars of the franchise - the Droids! Looking on point were C3-PO, BB8 and R2D2. Some true heroes of mine. What followed after was a bit of a blur if I'm honest as I was in a haze of sheer, unadulterated joy. Below, you can see Domhnall Gleeson;  Daisy Ridley and Mark Hamill, writer and director Rian Johnson, a stern looking Adam Driver, Andy Serkis, Gwendoline Christie and of course - Oscar Isaac and John Boyega.

Usually when you attend premieres, there are plenty of celebrities and familiar faces but nothing quite like this - nor on this scale. On my walk inside, I was fortunate enough to bump in to Simon Pegg and then, later, Mark Kermode (my absolute inspiration). Both were absolutely lovely to talk to and so friendly.

It was finally time to make my way to the Arena to watch the film. Unfortunately, we were not allowed to take any photos inside the building (I think due to the Princes being in attendance) but it was a sight for sore eyes. Naturally, there was a touching tribute to Carrie Fisher as the director welcomed the cast on stage to introduce the film - alongside a fleet of Stormtroopers and Elite Praetorian Guards.  I could not have imagined a more perfect evening.

I will try my best to write a full review of the film itself but it was nothing shy of fantastic. As to be expected, it truly is a 5 star film and one I can't wait to see again later this week. Well, that's it for another red carpet post. Are you planning to see Star Wars: The Last Jedi this week? What are you most excited for? As always, I love readying your comments so please do leave me lots of lovely ones down below. I'm off to find myself a porg.

Until next time - May the Force be with you....

    1. Yeah it's quite the venue! It's not usually a good place to watch a film (particularly if you get sat in the Gods) but they put an IMAX screen in, especially and it was amazing. Hope you had a good Christmas :)
