Lifestyle Event: Ghostober Banquet with Discovery+

They had me at Halloween banquet in a haunted crypt. Spooky season may have flown by for me this year, but this more than made up for it. I was extremely lucky to attend this incredibly spooky event to celebrate Ghostober with Discovery+ - a glorious ghoulish month of must-see Halloween inspired viewing.

Celebrating yet another year of Ghostober (Discovery's multichannel event), viewers can expect more than fifty five hours of spine-tingling new series, specials and returning shows for the Halloween season. There's plenty to look forward to - from hair-raising ghost hunts with the likes of Ghost Adventures, tales of the supernatural or exploring dark family histories with Jack Osbourne, to show-stopping pumpkin carvings and dark tourism from Travel Channel, Food Network and discovery+.

How better to kick off another wonderful Ghostober than with a spooktacular banquet in an iconic haunted London setting? Having arrived at the cyrpt, we were greeted with a bar overflowing with dry ice and delicious cocktails before taking our seats at the banquet table, and hearing all about what was instore for viewers this spooky season on Discovery+.

During our courses, we were treated to ghost stories from the crypt - including one in which The Bleeding Heart Yard got its name. One night in 1626, Lady Elizabeth Hatton went dancing with a mysterious stranger. Her body was discovered the next morning, lying on the cobblestones. It had been torn limb from limb, and her still-bleeding heart lay throbbing within. There were rumours that in order to gain high-standing and wealth, Lady Hatton had sold her soul to the Devil himself. On that fateful night, the Devil came to claim his fee, devouring Lady Hatton. There are even rumours that her ghost still haunts the street. It certainly made for a creepy atmosphere for our meal and I loved every minute of it.

Much like the décor, the meal was absolutely brilliant and served with delicious theming. We started with a vegan starter of Buried Bloodlines Beetroot Tombstones - seasonal vegetables with whipped feta (I don't usually like feta but this was the best I've ever had), decorated with spider web sugar; followed by Lady Hatton's Bleeding Heart - a rare fillet steak served with a roast potato coffin, cabbage crucifix, long stem broccoli and topped with gravy. For dessert, we finished with a rich chocolate pumpkin filled with slime, served with chocolate orange sauce, and macarons.

We had an absolutely amazing evening and were sad to get the train home after a spooktacular evening. A huge thanks to Discovery+ for allowing us to attend a wonderful event, and be sure to check out their rota of thrilling entertainment throughout October and into November. Until next time spooks and ghouls, have a wonderful Halloween,
