Lifestyle Review: A Very Gothic Christmas

There's less than a week remaining until Christmas and I think I may finally be getting in the festive spirit. I hadn't actually thought of putting decorations up this year - I still don't fully feel settled in my new place - but it was amazing how much better I felt once I had. And so (since you creeps seem to love looking around my house), I thought I'd share my bedroom decorations with you all...

The latest few years I've had a small Christmas tree and some subtle decorations but my (now ex) boyfriend wasn't a fan. This year, however, was different - I could have whatever I wanted and, inspired by my American roadtrip this year, I decided that this year's theme would be minimalist. Don't get me wrong, in past years I've had multi-coloured trees, maybe even with flowers and rainbow coloured baubles but this year I thought I'd go full goth. To help me out with my gothic apparel, EMP* have very kindly sent me a few pieces to stay on theme.

If you haven't yet heard of EMP, they are an alternative fashion store; specialising in gaming, music and film merchandise. Basically perfect for nerds such as myself and perfect for shopping at this time of year. They have a whole selection of Star Wars, Harry Potter, Disney and Marvel pieces, including Christmas decorations, festive jumpers and stocking fillers. (You can check out my Star Wars gift guide here)

My favourite pieces from their Christmas collection included this amazing Jack Skellington 3D Disney Mug* (you'll have noticed from previous posts that I love a Disney character mug), and these Possession Christmas tree baubles*. Side note: I'll admit I'm not actually a fan of the TV show, Supernatural, which these are actually from but I just really liked the design and, since my trip to Salem, I'm quite partial to a pentagram or two.

So there you have a little glimpse at my miniature tree and decorations. But tell me, what decorations do you have on your tree? What style did you opt for this year? As always, I love reading your comments so please do leave some lovely ones for me down below. Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you all get spoilt rotten and have an amazing few days with friends and family, no matter where you are.

Until next time,

  1. That Jack Skellington cup looks awesome! Your tree is fine. I never got around to putting up decorations for this year although I was meaning to.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you, Sophie!

  2. I love those baubles! I've watched a very small amount of Supernatural, but I'm a sucker for a pentagram. Our tree is a mix of sentimental baubles or objects we've had for years, and round ones. This year they're black and silver.

  3. I can't wait until I've got a place of my own, and can decorate it however I like. I think I would go for a minimalism-style Christmas too - I think it makes the details stand out so much more! Knowing me, I'd be trying to incorporate some yellow in there somehow... I hope you had a great Christmas!
