**Update May 2021 - Unfortunately, Royal China Queensway is now permanently closed following the coronavirus**
We hadn't actually bargained on the starters being so large, based on past experiences in London Chinese restaurants. And so by the time our mains came we were already struggling. I ordered the Fresh Lobster which was very tasty and meaty. This was presented beautifully and wonderfully crisp in a golden tempura. If I were to visit again, I would definitely recommend getting this as a treat to yourself as, although it is certainly one of their more pricier dishes, it was delicious.
For Fran's main, she opted for the Spicy Prawns, king prawns served with seaweed in a tangy spicy sauce. These were packed full of punch but the prawns were excellent. She also chose a Chow Mein noodle (served with mixed vegetables) as a side which unfortunately she didn't enjoy so couldn't eat which was a shame as it was a rather expensive dish.
To finish up our feast, we thought it only right to have something sweet. I opted for the Banana Fritters, served with vanilla ice cream. These were very interesting to eat (especially as I was only given a spoon to eat with). The fritter itself is crystallised within a layer of chewy syrup, baked in soft and fluffy fritter with a warm, gooey banana in the middle. Don't get me wrong, this was absolutely delicious - just not the most easy thing to eat but I loved it all the same.
All in all, we really enjoyed our visit to Royal China and I'd to give it a solid 3/5. Whilst there were some small confusions due to the menus not featuring a lot of description, we ultimately wolfed down our dishes of choice and it had great selection. The venue itself is very friendly and the staff were on hand all evening to help. The service was very prompt and the food was equally very enjoyable.
That's it for my latest foodie review. Have you ever visited a Royal China* restaurant before? Do you have a favourite Chinese restaurant? As always, I love reading your comments so please do leave me lots of lovely ones down below.
Until next time fellow food lovers,
